Balance in Blogging

15 Aug

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend that was not full of cleaning out your old apartment. 🙂 We bought our home in May, but unfortunately we were tied into our lease at our apartment until the end of August. So yes, for two months we paid mortgage and rent. If we sublet we would still be responsible for the way the apartment looked at the end of the lease. This would be fine if one of our friends wanted to rent it, but I am pretty sure no one wanted to after all the posts I put on Facebook about our psychotic downstairs neighbor.

This Saturday we ran errands for about two hours, and then cleaned our old place out for two and a half hours. And when I clean, I clean. I was on my hands and knees scrubbing the floors and baseboards. Needless to say my back did not feel well at the end of the day. Food on Saturday was sparse since I just wanted to get everything done and out of the way. I had this wonderful concoction after drooling over all of Cait’s Plate’s yummy waffles.

I took one multigrain waffles and topped it with Fage, peanut butter granola, nectarine pieces, and a scoop of PB. Talk about delish! It kept me full for hours. I snacked on a Ginger Snap Larabar while juggling Costco, Spice Hut, and Target. For dinner we went to Quiznos and I tried the new Chicken Harvest sandwich. OMG, I loved this sandwich. It has chicken, mixed greens, grapes, cranberries, pumpkin seeds and acai vinaigrette. I highly recommend it.

Sunday I took a bath in our jetted tub. My back said thank you! Then I realized I wanted our house to be as clean as our old apartment. I spent a good portion of the day cleaning up the house and spending time with the hub, which was much needed.

When I’d been blogging for about a week the Hub casually asked if I would be doing this every night. Since I work about a half an hour away from home and go to bed early, we don’t have that much time together after work. I kind of brushed it off. Then a few days later he made another comment. I realized that I was spending too much time reading other blogs and blogging myself. I was neglecting my poor husband and only half listening when he was talking to me because I was trying to concentrate. I put myself in his shoes and realized that I would probably be irate right now. Since then, I’ve been trying to blog on my lunch and post when I get home, cutting down a lot of blog time. I also didn’t blog at all this weekend because 1) My views are pretty low on the weekends and 2) I wanted to spend uninterrupted time with the Hub. It was definitely nice and much appreciated on both sides. I started the blog so I would be more accountable with food and find a better balance between the “bad” and the “good”. I let food take over a little too much of my time and took it from the person I love to be with the most. I’m just glad he’s able to tell me how he feels and that I’m able to accept it.
